In the evening, an open flame broke into a wooden house in the Raseiniai district, Norgėlų village, Plento street. The fire at this farm was reported on the ninth night: Police officers patrolling nearby noticed tongues of fire rising into the sky.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the Medinukas completely drowned in flames. After putting out the fire, they discovered a badly burned human body, and a couple of hours later, already digging up the scabs, they found a second charred corpse. She is believed to be the mother of the deceased and her 28-year-old daughter.

“After putting out the fire, the bodies of two women were found, believed to be the same ones who lived in that house: it is a 50-year-old woman and her daughter,” says Šiauliai police representative Artūras Šliavas.
The house was completely shattered. While the fire broke out, experts explain, they are also examining the bodies found to confirm the exact identity of the victims. Authorities say the circumstances of the fire are enigmatic, representing an extremely gruesome version of a double murder. Possibly both women died and the heinous crime was masked by fire. Suspicions fall on the daughter’s cousin, Marius Marcinkus, 35. The police are looking for him.
“Not only could the bodies have been burned during the fire, but the version of the murder was not ruled out. That is why the police have announced the search for this person, ”says A. Šliavas.
It was due to the violence against his cohabiting Marcinkus that he was caught in the spotlight by law enforcement. Thus, it is believed that in the event of a conflict, the man could have carried out a brutal attack and, after killing the victims, hid the traces of the crime by setting fire to the house.
“This man, who is now wanted, is convicted of domestic violence, so the police were aware of this farm,” says A. Šliavas.
The last address where Marius Marcinkus lived coincides with the fire station.
“The police are aware of the fact that a 35-year-old man may have lived in that house, but the police have not yet been able to find a man,” said A. Šliavas.
The man did not show up for work this morning and did not return calls.
