The police decided to install massive stationary checkpoints on weekends and holidays.
The Enhanced Driver Inspection ran from Friday, December 18 at 1 p.m. to Sunday, December 20 at 9 p.m.
About 900 police teams worked in the country, assisted by shooters, border guards and military police.
Drivers will be subject to fewer checks during the week.
“As there are working hours, we slightly reduce the intensity of our control, because most of the people who travel between municipalities usually have a justifiable reason, they go to work,” said A. Paulauskas.
