More details on Vilnius explosion cleared up: suspect threw knife at speaker before escaping

The allegations were made against A. S., a previously convicted Vilnius resident, for the destruction or damage of property in a universally dangerous manner, violation of public order and theft, the prosecutor’s office reported.

According to a pre-trial investigation, A. S. threw an explosive into a BMW car, causing an explosion in which two vehicles were damaged.

On the way from the scene, he threw a construction knife with the blade removed at the woman who called the police. By her actions, she was very frightened and, with a bold behavior in public, she showed disrespect to those around her and interrupted the seriousness and order of society. The suspect was arrested by police officers the same afternoon.

During the pre-trial investigation, suspect A. S. š. m. In early May, he committed a robbery: a cell phone and a wallet were stolen from a person close to him.

The prosecutor asked the court to order the arrest, stating that a less lenient detention may not ensure the smooth conduct of the pre-trial investigation, the suspect may hide from pre-trial investigation officers, the prosecutor or the court, and commit new crimes.
