Ja Morantas, a friend of Jonas Valančiūnas’ team at the Grizzlies club in Memphis, has been voted NBA Rookie of the Year.

The 21-year-old defender, who made his powerful league debut, won the rookie pick with a crushing advantage: 99 out of 100 voters gave Morant first place, and the athlete garnered 498 votes overall.
Last year’s defender’s rookie NBA Memphis team was invited to the second call.
Zion Williamson, who received the first first-place vote in the first rookie call, scored 140 points and took third place in the vote.
Between Moranto and Zion, Miami Heat rookie Kendrick Nunn was joined, scoring 204 points. Interestingly, the 25-year-old defender didn’t hear his name in the NBA rookie trade and came to the Heat from the G League.
Morant, 190 cm tall, had 18.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.3 assists for 31 minutes in the NBA this season, leaving the Grizzlies just a hair behind the Western Conference.
Nunn, who is playing in the playoffs at the time, scored 14.8 points in 28 minutes this season and provided 3.2 assists.
The 20-year-old NBA Zion of the New Orleans Pelicans played just 24 games and scored 22.5 points in 27 minutes, bounced 6.3 balls and gave 2.1 assists.
