“Hello, my wife was yesterday at the dentist and she told me that she was going by analogy (ed. against traffic) until a nice guy came and knocked on the window ”, writes the reader.

It is about leaving J.Balčikonio street. to V. Gerulaičio st. We wonder if there was really a lack of signs here, or maybe due to lack of attention.

The road sign is gone

Although you see a sign on Google Maps that indicates that you are going to a one-way street, in reality it is not.

15 minutes Photographer Julius Kalinskas, who visited this street, had to listen to many people say that every day more than one car emerges at the intersection of V.Gerulaitis and J.Balčikonio streets.

There may be no problem for residents constantly driving down this street, but when driving here for the first time, it is possible to get into some really dangerous situations.

So the reader also wondered why there is no one-way traffic sign indicating the direction of traffic. Turns out it’s gone.

„V.Gerulaitis – J.Balčikonio st. the road sign on the right will be rebuilt as it was missing. There are traffic signs of this type in other places on V. Gerulaičio street, ”says Neringa Kolkaitė, specialist in media relations for Vilnius Municipality.

A deceptive sign to nowhere?

15 minutes another place on J. Balčikonio Street caught the photographer’s eye.

As you can see in the photo, a sign indicating where the parking spaces are located (if driving towards V.Gerulaičio street) is located behind the entrance to them. So, of course, drivers in the parking lot can look by turning left in front of traffic.

We also received an explanation about the misleading parking sign on J. Balčikonio Street.

“The traffic sign on J.Balčikonio street, marking the parking place with a table, valid addresses on the left, with additional information panels, was installed without coordination with the Traffic Organization Department and will be dismantled “explained N. Kolkaitė.

According to the municipality, V.Gerulaičio Street has four lanes of traffic, two lanes in each direction with a dividing lane (green grass).

Driving from Kalvarijų st. the lanes have traffic signals that allow drivers to pass on the right.
