Reda Brandišauskienė, Advisor to the President and Permanent Representative to Seimas, requested special urgency for the proposals of G. Nausėda and his team at the Conference of Elders.
“I would like to hear the President’s request to create conditions to present the President’s drafts recorded in the Seimas yesterday at today’s Seimas session. Those projects were sent to all members of the Conference of Elders last night, we apologize for such urgency. But it would be a goodwill request, adapting today’s agenda to include those topics in the presentation so that the debate can begin as soon as possible.
You are asked to do so with special urgency, but these projects are not expected to be adopted today, ”said R. Brandišauskienė in Seimas on Thursday morning.
R. Karbauskis, President of the Union of Peasants and Greens of Lithuania (LVŽS), raised the question of why the Presidency does not respect Seimas at the Seimas Elders Conference.
“We will probably listen to the Presidency’s request, but we should agree that this is the last time that people who have to make a decision and would like to make that decision with extreme urgency receive some document (so late, authorship P.) Can I ask everyone sitting here how much the document has been read? Probably no one, there are only 4 colleagues here.
Respect the Seimas, I just want to ask one. What prevented you from sending that document yesterday afternoon? After all, you sent it to the Legal Department earlier, you even have a conclusion as to why it was not possible to send it to Seimas members, why it is necessary to treat Seimas this way, “asked LVŽS leader R. Karbauskis .
“We shouldn’t be ashamed of the presidency here,” defended the liberal Eugenijus Gentvilas, a member of the country’s leadership team.
As only one of the two bills has the conclusion of the Legal Department, today only one of the documents could be submitted to Seimas, a proposal for a unique additional benefit for families with children. It would be € 120 per child and € 200 for low-income families and children with disabilities.
And another is a proposal to temporarily reduce the personal income tax rate from 20 to 15 percent until the end of the year, applying it to the level of three average wages, as well as to advance the increase in tax-free income to 50 euros, to be presented next week.
The Seimas will still have to decide on this on Thursday.
