Arvydas Anušauskas, representative of the Union of the Homeland – Lithuanian Christian Democrats (TS-LKD), addressed the Seimas Board, asking to form a group of people who could go to Belarus and mediate to monitor the situation in this country.
The Seimas Board addressed three Seimas committees: Foreign Relations, National Security and Defense, and Human Rights, requesting the formation of a delegation and the agenda of the visit for Tuesday.
“I hope we have a board meeting on Tuesday. And then it would be clear what is happening and for what purpose,” said Speaker of Parliament Viktoras Pranckietis at the Seimas Board session on Friday morning.
MP Gediminas Kirkilas emphasized that a clear agenda was extremely important.
“The agenda needs to be considered very seriously and where it is going. Will the dictator not use that, say that we are interfering here, or something like that? There are many nuances here,” said G. Kirkilas, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee, in the meeting.

TS-LKD representative Žygimantas Pavilionis said the current plan is to pay a visit together with parliamentarians from Ukraine and Poland.
Delphi remember that Belarus has been protesting since Sunday night. The opposition has declared Sunday’s presidential election illegal, which authorities say was won by Alexander Lukashenko.
The Seimas will hold an extraordinary session next Tuesday, where a resolution will likely be adopted declaring the elections in Belarus illegal.
TS-LKD announced on Friday morning that together with Ž. The members of the Seimas would intend to visit the Republic of Belarus in such a delegation of members of the Seimas: Ingrida Šimonytė, Emanuelis Zingeris, Tomas Tomilinas, Gintaras Vaičekauskas, Valerijus Simulik, Laurynas Kasčiūnas, Rasa Budbergytė, Aušrinė Armonaitė.
The delegation of members of the Seimas would be headed by Gediminas Kirkilas, president of the Commission of European Affairs of the Seimas.
After the visit to Belarus, the delegation would also have to isolate itself for 14 days.
