Member of the Andrius Jučas Council. We better do nothing

For those who read only the headlines, I suggest you go immediately to the comment area and don’t worry about what you need or should not do in Alytus. And that? After all, the answer remains the same: let’s do nothing.

I don’t know if quarantine works this way here, or the lunar calendar, but the flow of information in the past few months only sparks the idea that change in the city is unnecessary and only consoles the quiet lives of townspeople.

2019 In April a new city council was sworn in. During the elections, both public and party committees shared a set of promises that should translate into action. Well, over the years he has been trying to do important work and what reaction has accompanied them.

Free economic zone. For more than twenty years, the city of Alytus has been shrinking little by little. And so, almost 1,000 inhabitants a year. During each election, politicians promise that this will create hundreds or even thousands of jobs during their terms. It cannot be said that they do not occur, but a great advance is lacking.

Therefore, in the summer of 2019, the city council decided to prepare a feasibility study, which would select from 3 promising locations where the FEZ could occur. Especially since the government is sending signals to bless the appearance of such territory in Alytus.

We already have a study and the answer is more than clear: the best place to establish a FEZ is the territory of the aerodrome.

Well, and I started! Firstly, the aerodrome managers, who had so much control of the same aerodrome, did not enter the competition airmen, and for a long time only life was sustained and no major events or activities have taken place.

Then came the line of terrorists. They paint a picture of gloomy tires and smoking chimneys on the townspeople and wonder how everyone around them will be poisoned. The picture is very strong, so long discussions are needed to explain that modern companies that create high value-added products operate cleanly and pay much more than the average salary in Lithuania.

Well, and finally part of the town hall businessmen who play the first violin and stop having any idea of doing FEZ here. Why do they do that? I can only predict, but as a suggestion I suggest looking at the average employee salaries of some of the companies they manage and the picture becomes clearer.

Incidentally, I had to listen to an informal conversation between the operator of the FEZ established in Marijampolė and the former mayor of that municipality, who asked not to increase wages too much in the company that operated in the territory of the FEZ so that local employers would not they suffered too much. Maybe that’s the whole point? But of course, we better not do anything!

Education. Very interesting topic. For more than a decade, everyone in the city has been saying that the education network needs to be redesigned, as the number of children has doubled, the number of institutions has not changed, and education spending “consumes” about half from the city budget.

And the second problem is that there has been an increase in kindergartens that no longer physically fit into existing kindergartens and that parents no longer have a place to put them because private kindergartens don’t exist as much either.

In February-March, we made decisions that would allow vacations of two kindergarten buildings where schools would operate and children would go to other schools from the new school year. We have signed a landmark agreement with the Alytus district municipality that costs for district children attending our city’s kindergartens will no longer be reimbursed at the expense of the city, but at the expense of the district municipality, which would allow that the savings go towards improving the quality of education. However, some council members once again organize the reversal of the decision, because for whom? We better do nothing.

Well, and finally smaller accents, but not less important. It was announced this week that he wants to establish a private kindergarten in the block of his own houses. There are many kindergartens of this type both in our country and in other states, p. Lithuanian kindergarten “Obelėlė” in London, located in the backyard of a typical British house.

Is this how you think you managed to cut the ribbon and start? Of course not, because the residents of the surrounding houses are terribly outraged that during work, when the children go to this kindergarten, their thunderous laughter will disturb their peace!

As I mentioned, there are missing places for kindergartens in Alytus, companies are trying to respond to this and the community is angry. I think the request is inevitable. After all, for whom to establish, it is better that we do nothing.

Last year, residents of the tourist district were outraged that young people and guests who come to our city drive through their homes to visit the Valley of Songs in nature and the noise of passing cars interferes with their rest. Quiet, though apartment residents with apartments on busy streets could tell you a bit more. The proposal was a desperate entry ban. For whom is this activity in the Valley of Songs, it is better that we do nothing. And we have a lot of those “let’s do nothing”, we really can’t remember and put them all together here.

This is how we live “let’s not do anything in the city”, because there will always be those who are not satisfied with one or another activity. The city is gradually becoming a province, but it may be necessary. Unnecessarily, some politicians are trying to make at least a small breakthrough here, and be able to “calm down” calmly for four years, by whom to try. We better do nothing.
