The relationship between mainstream media and tech giants Google and Facebook has always been described as complicated – a lot of anger, resentment, but when you grit your teeth, you have to admit that they can’t be without each other. Negotiations, in fact, cannot even be called that when one of the parties is clearly in a position of power, thus obeying the rules of the game of Facebook and Google, or knows that it will soon fall. But there are signs of a possible change: France has managed to get Google to pay the media a copyright fee for the content it creates, Australia is trying to fight by changing competition laws, and Canadian media has received a promise from parliament of change the law this year. Today there is a media outcry in Poland, although there is a doubt that the government is only covering up the fight against Google and Facebook for other purposes. At the moment, Lithuania can only see from the country what the big players will agree to.
