The commission will present its proposal to the government, which will make a final decision on Wednesday.
“We have been asking the ministry for some time to release the traffic restrictions between the city and the district municipalities, because we are closely connected: some live in the district and work in Alytus, others want to go to the district just to relax: fishing, hunting, giving a walk in Punia. At that time, the residents of the district could receive all the necessary services in Alytus. From shops to hairdressers “, says the mayor of the city Nerijus Cesiulis.
He owns a farm in the Alytus district and claims that he receives complaints from fishermen and hunters, he comments that to go from town to district, you have to lie or do tricks. “On the farm, near the lake, I saw only one fisherman on the weekend. After all, there has been no ice for three years: fishermen want to fish, stay in the wild, but fear fines. We heard that many people had to pay 250 euros. In winter, the so-called white starvation of animals – the need to eliminate food, but again there are fears. On the other hand, you also need to understand agents who need cold positions. 90% that the government will make a favorable decision on Wednesday, ”said the mayor.
According to him, as coronavirus morbidity rates improve, the population and themselves, it is necessary to believe, they will be responsible, they will not abuse.
If on Wednesday the government approves the gradual easing of quarantine restrictions – Alytus together with Šiauliai and Panevėžys – it would be the first in Lithuania to unleash movement between cities and their circular municipalities.
