“The city is multifaceted. There live different colors, different sexual minorities, both men and women, and grandparents. Everyone has to find a place to live, and everyone is our citizen, ”said V. Matijošaitis.

So far, no permission has been granted for LGBT marches to take place in Kaunas.

“Let’s choose a place, not construction sites,” said V. Matijošaitis succinctly.

He himself did not generate hopes of being one of those marches.

“A lot of people invite me somewhere, I don’t necessarily have to get involved everywhere. (…) I prefer to look at, let’s say, his colleague, a woman ”, said V. Matijošaitis half jokingly.

When the reporter noted that there may be women in the march, the mayor said: “but they cannot look at the men.”

“You know, I’ve really seen those people everywhere. As I am a city manager, they all have to be the same as me. And there is no need for something to stand out,” said V. Matijošaitis.

Delfi recalls that permission for the Kaunas pride march in Kaunas has not yet been granted.

The event is organized by union activists from May 1. They are trying for the right to hold marches to win by challenging the municipality’s decision. You can read more here.
