M. Kalesnikava claims that she sincerely fears for her life.
“It was said that if I do not leave the Republic of Belarus voluntarily, I will still be deported, alive or in parts. They also threatened to imprison me for 25 years,” the lawyer transmitted the words of M. Kalesnikava.
Earlier this week, attempts were made to force Kalesnikava to go to Ukraine. To avoid deportation, she tore up her passport at the border. Authorities say Kalesnikava and two other members of the Coordination Council have attempted to cross the border illegally.
According to Kalesnikava’s lawyer, the opposition demands that the Commission of Inquiry initiate criminal proceedings against officials of the KGB and the Directorate for Combating Organized Crime and Corruption who threatened her with death during her detention, she writes tut.by.
M. Kalesnikava refers to the names and positions of specific individuals who have already exerted psychological pressure.
M. Kalesnikava disappeared Monday morning: masked men in the city center put her on a bus and took her in an unknown direction. She is currently being held in solitary confinement in Minsk.
