2020 November 26 Marijampole County Officials from the Organized Crime Investigation Division of the LSC Criminal Police carried out a secret police operation to prevent the distribution of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances in the city of Marijampolė. During it, a person linked to organized crime was arrested.
The searches were carried out after the arrest. The search found and seized large quantities of drugs, possibly cocaine worth around 30,000 euros on the black market, combat firearms with ammunition in illegal possession and possibly stolen John Deere tractors worth around 20,000 euros. .
Due to the incident, a pre-trial investigation was launched in accordance with article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Lithuania. 3 d. (threatened with a prison sentence of ten to fifteen years) and art. 1 d. (threatened with arrest or imprisonment for up to five years). The investigation is controlled by the Kaunas Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
