According to the Prosecutor’s Office, six girls and women have been identified as victims in this case, three of whom are still minors.

The family guardians filed charges with the police for abuse of guardianship rights, rape of a minor and a minor, attempted rape of a minor, sexual assault of a minor and abuse of a person under 16 years of age.

Another person was charged with failing to report a crime.

Rasa Stundžienė, representative of the Panevėžys Regional Prosecutor’s Office, told BNS that the girl’s guardian was also believed to have been aware of the man’s crimes, but could not be prosecuted for not having reported the crime, as it is his wife.

The Penal Code stipulates that close relatives and members of the family of the person who committed the crime are not responsible for the failure to report.

During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that criminal acts against minors and minors in the family could have been committed in the 2009-2016 period. They were denounced by the victims when they no longer lived in this family.

A financial pre-trial investigation into the illegal use of an electronic payment instrument or its data and the misappropriation of someone else’s property was also separated from this case. It is believed that the guardians may have misused the children’s money. This study is still ongoing.

The pre-trial investigation in this case was conducted by officers from the Criminal Police Serious Crimes Investigation Board of the Panevėžys County Police Chief Commissariat. The investigation was conducted by Sandra Povilonienė, Prosecutor of the First Prosecution Division of the Panevėžys Regional Prosecutor’s Office.

The case will be heard by the Panevėžys Regional Court.
