At that time, the psychologist Edvardas Šidlauskas warns it as a dangerous phenomenon: irresponsible statements and actions create a confrontation between the “disadvantaged” and the “elite”, which directs anger towards state structures.
A situation of two smiles
The performer Marijonas Mikutavičius during the show “Žinių radijo” stated that the chosen format of the MAMA awards was a mistake that only annoyed the public.
“When the event is a ‘red carpet’, ‘the screeching of your feathers’, I don’t know if it’s necessary, it annoys the public. In my opinion, a mistake was made in this case, or a mistake was deliberately made, on the other hand, perhaps in planning everything seemed much simpler and more beautiful than it became. I tend to think that there is no need to upset people on some issues, ”said M. Mikutavičius.
According to the interpreter, if the prizes are important, they can always be done in a more restrained way, without family members and other parties. Mikutavičius said he believed the events could take place after coronavirus tests, but that the government should adopt those rules and apply them to everyone.
“In any case, those who say that everything is possible are right, it is possible to do tests, etc., but it must be adopted at the state level, certain rules are established for everyone.
I understand the ambiguity that people feel: on the one hand, it seems that we are fighting, on the other hand, we are allowing (awards event – aut.past.), And then the public, of course, is sent. This is elementary solidarity, “said M. Mikutavičius.
Two realities
Communication expert Kęstutis Gečas said that the MAMA awards showed what everyone has been noticing for some time.
“It was in very bad taste for people and it showed that quarantine is not for everyone. MAMA demonstrated or said what the public has been talking about for several weeks: that some people qualify, others do not, ”said K. Gečas.
According to him, it is a public secret that there are two realities in Lithuania: one that sincerely adheres to quarantine requirements, and the other that ingeniously handles documents and allows legal travel between municipalities.
“MAMA is just a symbolic test, an example of what is really happening in Lithuania,” said K. Gečas.
According to the communication expert, this crisis is not only medical, but also communicative and social.
“We know that the main decision-makers are people who are doctors or state officials, managers. You need communicative and social people (…)
It is very easy to stand up and say: “There are many cases, you will not do anything, we are sitting closed.” It is clear that sooner or later people will start to ignore, because people need to earn money for food, eventually they will get tired ”, said the communication specialist.
K. Gečas posed a fundamental question: “Is such a quarantine that lasts for many months better than opening and closing, allowing people to breathe, rest?”
Accumulated emotions
According to psychologist Edvardas Šidlauskas, a recent study showed that about half of Lithuanians have already crossed the line of anger and anxiety caused by restrictions.
“The adaptation failed, the adaptation failed, and those unmet needs begin to waver. So some just stop meeting the requirements or stick to it more lazily, others stick to it, but only get worse, ”said E. Šidlauskas.
The psychologist says that he notices a dangerous phenomenon.
“In this case, I see a dangerous combination, when all the accumulated avalanche of emotions is easily exploited or set ablaze by various margins, or political margins that demand attention (…). Empty and reckless statements begin, as if we are some kind of humiliated, oppressed, and there is an elite that abuses us that needs to be attacked.
That anger is directed at state structures, at public figures. I see this as a very serious matter, it is an information war. It’s just a question of whether it’s just destruction or something from the outside is helping. Or maybe one and the other, but the situation is very serious, “said E. Šidlauskas.
“We are all tired of these restrictions, nobody wants them. But the most important thing to distinguish is that it is not a human will, it is a natural disaster,” he emphasized.
Visible damage
For his part, Ramūnas Matonis, representative of the police department, reported that an administrative procedure had been initiated in relation to the awards.
“Today, the Kaunas Police, after clarifying the circumstances, began the trial for administrative infractions. Preliminary information indicates that the infractions may have been committed.
During the administrative process, the police will wait for an explanation from the organizers and, once the explanation is received, will decide what responsibilities they are responsible for. The responsibility of all participants will also be evaluated, whether they met the requirements or not, ”said R. Matonis.
According to him, the prevailing images in public space show that the organizers could not guarantee compliance with the quarantine requirements. “The sole responsibility for that could be a threat,” the police spokesman said.
R.Matonis tried to explain the main difference between the event and the television broadcast on which the organizers based the awards.
“Good question, but very difficult: no one knows the answer, everyone evaluates it differently. We imagine that a broadcast should be seen when there are as many people involved as inevitably are needed for the broadcast to take place: producer, operator, host.
If there are more outsiders, passersby, it can probably be seen as an event. But maybe the legal evaluation is not of significant importance, both the broadcast and the event are subject to requirements, and the events are currently prohibited, ”said R. Matonis.
