Meanwhile, Elanas Jablonskas, Chief of the Immunity Board of the Police Department, who was temporarily in charge of the Kaunas County Police, was appointed to temporarily hold the position of Chief of Police of Marijampolė County.
“For the time being, E. Jablonskas will be the temporary leader, and at some point in the near future the selection will be announced,” Ramūnas Matonis, a representative of the Police Department, told BNS.
While E. Jablonskas is temporary head of the county police station, other officials replace him as head of the Board of Immunity.
M.Baršys was born in 1982 in Tauragė. He earned a master’s degree in law from Mykolas Romeris University and began his service in 2001 at the Tauragė District Police Commissariat. Since 2017, he has been the head of the Marijampolė County Police Chief Commissariat.
E.Jablonskas was appointed Acting Chief of Kaunas County Police in November last year.
He also participated in the selection of the permanent chief of the county police, which was won by M. Baršys.
The Kaunas County Acting Chief of Police was appointed after then-Chief Sheriff Darius Žukauskas was removed from office after an investigation into his suspicious connections began.
On February 26 of this year, D.Žukauskas was fired for losing the right to work with confidential information. D.Žukauskas has appealed the dismissal, his case is being examined in court.
