Lukashenko’s attack in Lithuania: in three months we may have a very different situation

Lithuania could accept 15 thousand. migrants?

Arnoldas Abramavičius, Deputy Minister of the Interior, answered on Delfi TV’s “Facts and Opinions” program, how many Lithuania, as a state, can accept illegal immigrants.

“In fact, the exercises were probably modeled with a single number in mind, and now the reality is that every thousand is an additional challenge as each migrant requires a new accommodation. There is an unexpected human reaction. When the exercises were carried out, everything seemed very simple: the poor fleeing the Belarusian regime all provided their places of residence, schools, dormitories, hotels in a friendly way and everything was done successfully, but that is only on paper.

Today, every place provokes tremendous resistance, increases. Suppose this, also by a hybrid attack, destabilizes the communities, the political system. Well, it’s been said that forty thousand may come, that’s a marginal number, but I don’t think we can cope. At the end of the year, there are about fifteen thousand, that number is still possible, and more, certainly not. Although this is just a theoretical number. We just won’t make it because internal processes will take place. The people of the community are not as tolerant as they seem, they are not as European as it could be declared ”, says the interlocutor.

Reserve Colonel: We may have a total collapse

Reserve Colonel Arvydas Malinionis says on the show that if illegal migration rates remain the same, a thousand migrants a week, in three months we could have a real collapse.

“I think it is still possible to think that it is possible to control the situation, but if we do nothing, we let in a thousand migrants a week, if that rhythm is maintained, then in three months we can face a real problem, a complete collapse. I want to. In other words, the public authorities will no longer be able to carry out their functions and guarantee the safety of the population, then we will have a collapse in the true sense of the word.

And it can be if we do nothing, so we must act quickly and organize ourselves, monitor all resources. All of this needs to be addressed, and is being done: both accommodation, storage, isolation and every effort should be made to block their entry from Belarusian territory, which is currently not guaranteed. And now there is talk that we will build a concert and the problem will be solved; this is definitely not true, because no engineering device works without a man.

Normal patrols must be organized for the concert to work. I am concerned that the VST commander is already inviting retirees who have gone out to the reserve. He may not have the power to request an army reserve, but I think we need to think about that too. The problem is that our army reserves are single soldiers, they are not organized into one. We do not generate resources if we need to strengthen something in the future ”, says the interlocutor.

Hot Tub: this is a signal for the whole west

Andrius Kubilius, Member of the European Parliament, says that the current crisis in Lithuania is really different than it was in the southern part of Europe a few years ago. However, according to the MEP, Lithuania will be successful.

“I will say this: it is true that this is unexpected for Lithuania. You might think that the previous authorities could have come up with something better and tightened border protection, but I don’t blame them because what we are seeing now is not the simple refugee crisis that Europe has experienced in its southern part since 2015.

This is a hybrid attack organized by Lukashenko’s efforts. There was no way to prepare for her. What I see now is that the border services are working effectively, with a concentrated force: both the Rifle Army and other organizers; yes, the local communities are angry, but these are issues that need to be addressed by all of Lithuania.

In my opinion, Lithuania will rebound. The other thing is, I think we need to strengthen border security first, and with concert halls and fences, I think it will inevitably be done. Secondly, what I consider important is that our politicians and diplomats must make an even greater contribution, even though we have done all this. The long-term solution is to help the people of Belarus to achieve the victory of democracy in Belarus, because the root cause of the problems is the Lukashenko regime.

We must not lose sight of this, and every action taken by Lukashenko, such as a plane landing or a situation with refugees to create tension and chaos in Lithuania, to encourage a change in foreign policy in Lithuania, is a signal not only for us, but for the West as a whole, says A. Kubilius.

Gaižauskas: the situation is tense

Dainius Gaižauskas, vice president of the Seimas Defense and National Security Committee, also assessed the most recent situation.

“It is not so much the collapse of the state, but the process that will destabilize the internal situation. When I listen to the interlocutors, I have horrible skin. People are talking, they seem relaxed, Kubilius is riding his bike and the situation is very, very tense. Three thousand refugees, you know, too many can be controlled by such a small state.

I can say that if we had our power, we would have met day and night three weeks ago and the public would know how the planning is being done, what is being done, what the goals are and if we are going to achieve it. . In fact, there is no plan in the state, there is no draft, because no one presented what we should do, they did not even indicate directions ”, says D. Gaižauskas in the program.

According to him, many mistakes were made in foreign policy.

“There are four things now that practically no one responds to. I would call them that: this crisis did not come by itself like any kind of flood, hurricane or fighting, this situation arose artificially. This may not be credible to our opponents, but it was due to major mistakes in foreign policy, which were specifically made by Gabriel Landsberg. He did not consult with the opposition or with the president, “said the interlocutor on the program.

He also adds that Lithuania should maintain a dialogue with Minsk.

“No matter how you like it, we will stop this flow only when there is a dialogue with Minsk. We are not saying that we need to relax, perhaps tighten up even more, but it doesn’t have to be our state. It must be the United States or another country, and Lukashenko must understand that the state will not change its foreign policy, but Lithuania must have very strong allies ”, considers D. Gaižauskas.

The second thing, according to Gaižauskas, is the need to stop the flows at the border and involve as many services as possible.

When Gaižauskas asked him what Lukashenko’s plan could be, he assured that the fence would not help in the first place.

“I think the situation is very threatening. I do not understand if all of you are intentionally doing shows on a fence as a panacea, what is there here? If migration goes its own way, as in the Mediterranean, and this current of migration is artificially caused. … No fence will resist. We always know that Belarus can take advantage of the element of migration and ruin us, “says D. Gaižauskas.
