The Belarusian authorities have not announced the date of the inauguration. By law, the new president must take office no later than two months after the official election results are announced.
This year, the deadline is October 9.
So far, there is no exact information on how many people attended the ceremony.
The source Tut.by claims that even some ministers were unaware of the inauguration of September 23, although, for example, in 2015, almost a thousand people attended the inauguration of Lukashenko: members of the government, deputies, guests from abroad.
The ceremony was attended by the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov and the former president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma. The Russian ambassador to Belarus, Dmitry Mezenciov, assured that he was not invited to a ceremony at the Independence Palace.
For more than a month there have been unprecedented protests in Belarus over the August 9 presidential elections, which Lukashenko has ruled the country since 1994. The opposition and Western countries consider these elections to be rigged.
