“Vladzimir Astapenka has been fired from the envoy of the Republic of Belarus to Argentina and … in Uruguay, Chile, Paraguay, Peru for misconduct incompatible with being in the diplomatic service,” the presidency told BelTA on Tuesday.

Lukashenko signed the order on Tuesday.

“By order, Vladzimir Astapenka also lost the diplomatic rank of extraordinary and authorized envoy,” the BelTA report said.

At the end of October, the portal tut.by announced that V. Astapenka had submitted a second request to resign, stating that he would refuse to work under the authority of “a person who does not have the right to express the will of the Belarusian people.”

“After the inauguration, on September 23, I requested my dismissal by agreement of the parties … I did not receive any reaction. Now I have withdrawn that statement and submitted a new one on October 27, “the ambassador told the portal.

On September 23 the inauguration of Lukashenko took place, which was kept secret until the last moment. Through it, Lukashenko, declared the winner of the presidential elections on August 9, was sworn in for the sixth term. This has exacerbated the political crisis in Belarus.

According to Astapenka, he wrote a new statement demanding his dismissal under another article of the Labor Code: “for violations of the employer’s laws that hinder the performance of work under an employment contract.”

“The lack of international legitimacy of the head of state does not allow me, as a diplomat and as a patriot of my country, to continue serving honestly as ambassador, being a subordinate who has no right to express the will of the Belarusian people,” Astapenka said at the time .

There have been massive protests in Belarus for almost three months over the presidential elections, which the opposition and Western democracies consider rigged.

The protesters are demanding the resignation of Lukashenko, the release of political prisoners and new elections.
