All the people mentioned in this relocation are veterans of the ruling regime in Belarus. Andrejus Ravkovas was the secretary of the Security Council and Valerijus Vakulčikas was the head of the KGB.
A. Ravkov has been serving in the Security Council since January 20 of this year, and until then he served as Defense Minister for five years.
In turn, V. Vakulčikas headed the KGB for eight years, and before that he worked as chairman of the Investigation Committee for 18 months. Ivan Tertel, who has been the head of the State Audit Office until now, will replace him as head of the KGB.
From now on, V.Vakulčikas will head the Security Council in place of A.Ravkovas, and Valerijus Gerasimovas will work temporarily as chairman of the State Control Committee.
The move was announced shortly before Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s visit to Minsk.
What does that mean? It’s difficult to say, but A. Ravkov, who has been the head of the Security Council until now, is an army general, and V. Vakulčikas, who replaces him, is a KGB man. It has long been said that Lukashenko does not trust the military 100 percent.
