Tomas Rytel, Head of the LRT Activity Management and Development Department, told BNS that he wanted to choose an organization that would help LRT organize the competition in a professional way: select the evaluation commission, announce the competition and do other organizational work.

“As soon as the project organizer is selected, he and the LRT team will prepare the requirements for the architecture competition,” T. Rytel told BNS.

“We hope to have the approved winner of the architectural project in the last quarter of this year,” he added.

According to T. Rytel, the new LRT headquarters is expected to be built in 2025, it should cost around 47.5 million. euros.

“So far, investment has not changed, it will become evident in the next stages. We are currently considering various financing models and government assistance will be necessary,” he told BNS.

The LRT Real Estate Optimization Feasibility Study presented in September 2019 indicated that to reduce the cost of maintaining LRT assets, a new building must be constructed and part of the existing buildings demolished.

Now approximately 1 million is allocated annually for LRT building maintenance. EUR, and the maintenance costs of the new building would be reduced by 365 thousand. euros to about 635 thousand. euros.

LRT stated that today its buildings no longer meet current needs, the ratio of total building area per employee is too large.

The new building could have four floors, 30 thousand. square meters meters, of which a quarter would be occupied by an underground parking lot, the rest – a premises for the development of activities and contents and administration. The LRT Museum could be located in the radio building.
