According to the LKL regulations, the team must register at least 10 players for the match, and if fewer are registered, monetary penalties apply. An exception has been made for COVID-19 this season – if fewer than 10 players are registered for coronavirus, no financial penalties apply. However, in this case, the team will have to present to the LKL competition director documents confirming the cases of COVID-19 in medical institutions among the players.
“Due to the large number of cases, the team affected by COVID-19 must play the match if it manages to register eight players not affected by the coronavirus,” said R.Liuimienė. “In this case, short- or long-term injuries and microtrauma to players cannot be classified into the situations listed above.”
R.Liuimienė added that “Rytas” can enter Vilnius “Perlo-Energija” players under the age of 21 for Sunday’s matches; They are not subject to number restrictions or registration fees for additional LKL players, except for dual licensed basketball players.
