Representatives of EU member states decided late Thursday that this institution will be established in Bucharest, the Romanian capital, Simonas Šatūnas, Lithuania’s acting ambassador to the EU, told BNS.

“In tonight’s vote, three countries received the most support. Lithuania remained in third place among the seven competitors. Romania received the most votes, where there are still no EU agencies,” said the diplomat.

In its application, Lithuania stated that the center could employ between 30 and 50 employees at the TV Tower.

Lithuania’s contribution during the first five years of the Center’s operation was expected to reach around 1 million. The activities of the Center will be financed from the EU budget.

At the initiative of Lithuania, a group of EU countries created a rapid response cyber force this year.
