Lithuanian shooters will be led by Colonel Dapkus

At the remotely organized union congress in Kaunas, A. Dapkus’ candidacy was supported by 225 delegates, one abstained, there were no dissenters.

The Minister of National Defense, Raimundas Karoblis, proposed the election of the commander-elect to lead the shooters. He emphasized the candidate’s planning ability, his leadership experience, which, according to the Minister, will fit perfectly under the leadership of the Lithuanian Rifle Union.

Until now, A. Dapkus has served at the Baltic Defense College in Tartu, Estonia, where he teaches courses for high-ranking commanders, the Ministry of National Defense reported.

This candidacy has already been approved by the Seimas National Defense and Security Committee.

A. Dapkus, 53, has been serving in the Lithuanian Armed Forces since 1991. The officer served in Afghanistan from 2013 to 2014.

“The shooters were together with the military volunteers, and I started volunteering. We performed tasks together, studied and trained together,” said A. Dapkus in the report.

According to him, it is still important to promote the ideas of shooters, spread them in society and guarantee the continuity of work.

“I see the Lithuanian Rifle Union as a modern organization that helps guarantee national security,” said the new riflemen.

According to the law, the Minister of National Defense appoints the Commander of the Union of Fusiliers after receiving the approval of the Seimas Committee and the Congress of the Union of Fusiliers of Lithuania.

The Lithuanian Fusiliers Union is a voluntary paramilitary civil defense association supported and assisted by the state. It has around 12 thousand. members.
