The Ministry of National Defense ensures that the agreement signed with the Slovaks ensures that the helicopters under repair will not be transported to third countries.
The competition for the repair of MI-8 helicopters belonging to the Lithuanian Armed Forces was won by the Slovak company Letecke opravovne Trencin in November this year.
Ten days before the signing of the agreement in Lithuania, the leaders of the Slovak company in Moscow crossed hands with the Russian state company Russian Helicopters. The latter belongs to the famous Russian company for the manufacture and repair of military equipment Rostec. He’s on the United States sanctions list.
Sigitas Dzekunskas, director of the Defense Resources Agency of the Ministry of National Defense, claimed that Slovaks had no right to repair aircraft in other countries.
“They cannot use third parties to perform the contract without our consent,” said S. Dzekunskas.
According to him, the contract provides that 92 percent. the repair of helicopters will be borne by the company itself, and 8 percent. – subcontractor in Azerbaijan.
“It is important to us that helicopters are not taken to third countries,” he said. If the Slovaks requested it, the Ministry of National Defense would not grant such permission.
