Lithuania will ask NATO for an action plan for Ukraine’s accession: will it finally be proposed?

Landsberg said Wednesday that he is asking NATO members to provide a membership action plan (English membership action plan, MAP) Ukraine is already in talks with other Baltic states, notes BNS.

Ukraine decided to apply MAP in 2008, but then the Alliance decided not to offer it yet. That year, it was promised that in the future, both Ukraine and Sacartwell would become members of NATO.

Ukraine’s potential membership in the Alliance and its impact on the Russian naval base in Crimea is considered one of the factors that led to the occupation of the peninsula.
