A statistical survey of nationality, mother tongue and religion of the population will begin on Friday, announced the Department of Statistics.
“During it, the population will be asked what their nationality, mother tongue, what other languages they know, what religion they profess,” the report reads.
According to the department, in the past these indicators were collected through population and housing censuses in general.
“As this year’s census will be carried out on the basis of administrative data, in response to the need of users to maintain the continuity and comparability of the indicators, this year this information is collected through a statistical survey”, reports the Statistics Department.
According to him, according to data from the last population and housing census carried out in 2011, there were 154 nationalities living in Lithuania, every third inhabitant of the country indicated that they spoke two foreign languages, the population belonged to 59 different religious communities.
According to the Department of Statistics, the survey will be conducted by conducting an online survey, which can be completed by February 17 at https://surasymas.stat.gov.lt/.
“You can log in to the survey questionnaire by entering your exact personal data (personal identification code and valid document number) or through the Electronic Government Portal. Only four questions need to be answered, so completing the questionnaire only takes a few minutes, ”the report reads.
According to the department, in order to ensure the quality and representativeness of the results of the statistical survey, once the online survey is completed, it is expected to select about 40 thousand people from the population register. residents who did not participate in the online survey will be interviewed by interviewers.
Data on the nationality, mother tongue and religion of the population will be provided together with the results of the 2021 population and housing census.
