Energy Minister Žygimantas Vaičiūnas says he informed the Director General of the Rafael Agency about this. Minsk will also be informed at the end of September, to which an alert on this issue has been sent before.

“Regarding the abandonment of the 100 megawatt reserve: Starting in the New Year, Litgrid will not provide such a reserve to the Belarusian power plant, because it is the additional protocol to the BRELL agreement there.” We have already warned Belarus officially before. We also have to do it legally at the end of September. Litgrid will continue to do so and I just informed you more, ”Ž said. Vačiūnas to BNS on Friday.

Lithuania has committed to providing this reserve under the so-called BRELL ring agreement (Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Lithuania and Latvia), from which it intends to desynchronize in 2025.

“All countries agree to provide 100 megawatts to each other and this means that Lithuania refuses to provide the reserve to Belarus and at the same time informs all other countries. We are also ready to agree with Latvia and Estonia on the exchange of reserves. But our position on Belarus is clear, because simply in such a way that there would be doubts not only about the legal use, but also about the practical use of the Lithuanian reserves, ”argued the Minister.

He said that the owner of the Tatena had been informed about it to anticipate possible misunderstandings.

“Because there are also certain interpretations in our public space that this (refusal to provide a reservation – BNS) is related to the reduction of the safety level of the Astrava nuclear power plant. Reservations are not our problem, it is not our question, so there would be no international misunderstandings, I also provided this information to the IAEA Director General ”, Ž.Vaičiūnas added.

According to the Minister of Energy, during the conversation with R. Grosssi, he was also asked to mediate to ensure Lithuania’s requirement that information about the processes at the Astrava nuclear power plant be provided to Lithuania in advance.

Reservations are not our problem, they are not our question, so there are no international misunderstandings, I have also provided this information to the IAEA Director General.

“I reported on VATESI letter to Belarusian Emergency Ministry, where we demand that information be provided in advance about all steps, that is, both the energy start-up and the physical test, about the commercial start-up dates, because we have a mechanism notice of steps, but as has been the practice so far, we received information from Belarus the day before the event, ”said Ž.Vaičiūnas.

“We have not yet received official information that this power plant will be launched for the energy test on November 7,” the minister emphasized.

The Lithuanian State Atomic Energy Safety Inspectorate (VATESI) this week asked Belarus to suspend the commissioning of the first reactor of the nuclear power plant until its safety problems are resolved.

Lithuania criticizes the safety of the Astrave nuclear project and is ready to boycott the power plant. At that time, Belarus rejected the criticism.
