According to Edita Sužiedėlienė, a professor at Vilnius University, rapid antigen tests currently on the market have good sensitivity and specificity characteristics.

“It is advisable to use the tests for 5 to 7 days after the onset of symptoms or after previous contact, when the maximum viral load is expected in nasopharyngeal samples. It is advisable to use the tests for decentralized testing in hot spots of infection, risk group tests, symptomatic or contacted person tests, applying differentiated test algorithms, which are developed and can be applied immediately ”, explains E.Sužiedėlienė.

At the end of the public procurement procedures for these tests, the winner of the first places in the three parts of the procurement object was announced: UAB Biovita. The amount of the three parts of the contract is 552,000 euros.

A contract has been signed with the winning vendor for three parts of the procured object and the first shipments of rapid antigen tests are scheduled to arrive at NVSPL later this month.

In this public procurement, 43 companies submitted bids and the procurement was divided into three equal parts in order to increase competition.
