The note expresses deep concern about the environmental violations identified on the D-6 oil platform by the Russian state agency for natural resources, Rosprirodnadzor. He was also asked to provide detailed information and an explanation of Rosprirodnadzor’s investigation and possible environmental incidents on the platform that could have caused damage to the Baltic Sea and its coastal ecosystems.

The D-6 (or Kravcovskaya) oil production platform, built and commissioned in the Baltic Sea in 2004, is located on the Russian continental shelf, 5 km from the Lithuanian-Russian state border and 22.5 km from Curonian Spit, listed by UNESCO. The issue of the proper functioning of the platform is extremely important for Lithuania due to the consequences and damages that could occur in the event of an ecological accident if not used correctly, notes the report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
