This date cannot be earlier than March 22. (the last time was in 1818, the next only in 2285), and no later than April 25. (It was in 1943, it will be in 2038). Due to such dispersion of dates, it is not possible to assess the Easter weather climatologically, but we can see what weather and its records have been in Lithuania for the first St. Easter Day of the last 60 years.
The warmest Easter was in 2000, the average daily air temperature in Lithuania was 17.3 ° C. That year was a sunny and warm day throughout Lithuania, the maximum air temperature in the entire country ranged from 23.8 and 26.7 ° C. The mentioned 26.7 ° C, measured in Varėna, became the highest Easter air temperature. It should be noted that in the last 60 years there have only been four days of Easter, when the maximum air temperature in at least one weather station exceeded 20 ° C: 1962, 2000, 2011 and 2014.
The coldest Easter morning dawned in 1974. Also in Varėna, when the air temperature dropped to -11 ° C, which is the lowest air temperature recorded on Easter day. However, the coldest could be the 1970s. Easter, when the average daily air temperature in Lithuania was -2.6 ° C. This Easter was the only one in which the average daily air temperature in Lithuania was negative (from -1.5 ° C in Klaipeda to -3.2 ° in Telšiai and Varėna).
Precipitation. In the last 60 years, there have only been 15 Easter, no rainfall recorded at any weather station, and 8 recorded at all. The rainiest was in 2018. Easter. On this day, the greatest amount of precipitation fell in Dotnuva, 24.5 mm; this is the highest amount of precipitation during Easter.
Snow. During the 60 years, there were 23 Easter, when the snow was fixed in at least one weather station and only two, when the snow covered all of Lithuania: in 1970. and 1996 1970 The highest snow cover was measured in Laukuva during the Easter, even 49 cm. Therefore, we can call Easter 1974 not only the coldest, but also the snowiest.
The last Easter with the most snow was in 2013, when the snow cover was recorded in almost all weather stations, and in Dūkšte it reached up to 30 cm.
