“Gediminas Kirkilas, the party president, is in second place, I am in third place, Zigmantas Balčytis is fourth and Vytautas Kamblevičius, the faction’s alternate elder, is fifth,” said Juozas Bernatonis, vice president of the social workers, to BNS.
According to him, in sixth place – Member of Seimas Irena Šiaulienė, seventh – Minister of Economy and Innovation Rimantas Sinkevičius, eighth – Minister of Agriculture Andrius Palionis, ninth – former member of Seimas Kęstutis Daukšys, tenth – former Deputy Mayor of Vilnius Jonas Pinskus .
Among the top ten: former head of the State Tax Inspectorate Dainoras Bradauskas, former MP, businessman Andrius Šedžius, former member of the Seimas Algimantas Matulevičius, member of the Municipal Council of Jurbarkas Inga Molevaitė, former mayor of the Anykščiai Kęstutis Tubis district, former deputy director from the Department of Physical Culture and Director of Sports Commander of the Lithuanian Armed Forces Valdas Tutkus, former chairman of the Zenonas Vaigauskas Central Electoral Commission, former member of Seimas Petras Narkevičius and former member of Parliament Antanas Valys.
According to Bernatonis, the party has so far nominated 65 candidates in single-member constituencies.
“In the Karoliniškės district, together with the ‘peasants’, we raised Saulius Skvernelis. In Kretinga, we support Antanas Vinkas, nominated by the ‘peasants’, and in Rokiškis, Vidmantas Kanopas, a candidate of the Social Democrats,” he said.
“In three more constituencies: Tauragė, Radviliškis and Joniškis, we will nominate candidates later, at next week’s presidium meeting,” he added.
R. Karbauskis’ arguments regarding conflicting values are a pretext
The vice president of Social Workers said the presidium also discussed issues related to the decision made by the “campesinos” last week to end the agreement on the nomination of joint candidates during the Seimas elections.
“We have discussed those issues today, but we have decided that there is nothing to accept.” (…) R. Karbauskis had invented it himself and withdrew that initiative himself, “said J. Bernatonis.
Last Friday, the Council of the Lithuanian Peasants and Greens Union decided not to nominate joint candidates with the “social workers”, “after dissenting opinions on the adoption of the essential values of the laws implementing the provisions of the LVŽS program”.
At the end of the spring session, “social workers” were the only ones in power to support the proposal to liberalize alcohol consumption by allowing the sale of low-alcohol alcohol in beach cafes.
“We support the Government’s position, including R. Šalaševičiūtė, whom he invited to go to the elections together, also voted like us, this is a pretext, not a reason.” … I think the reasons will become clear after the elections , there may be different options, “he said.
“Obviously, you don’t want to go together, you don’t want to have connections. It is difficult to say what their motives are. Is it some kind of consultants who advised you? Are there any agreements with possible partners after the elections? All this will become clear later” added the MP.
In early June, the “peasant” and “social worker” rulers had announced that in some constituencies they intended to nominate candidates for the Seimas together.
Gediminas Kirkilas, the leader of the “social workers”, and Rimantas Sinkevičius, Rimantė Šalaševičiūtė, Andrius Palionis and Antanas Vinkus, members of the Seimas, were named among the joint party candidates.
The Seimas elections will be held on October 11.
The Union of Peasants and Greens of Lithuania, the Social Democratic Labor Party of Lithuania and the Polish Lithuanian Election Campaign: the Union of Christian Families has signed an agreement with the ruling coalition.
