Linkevičius recalls the occupation of the Sakartvel territories, the annexation of Crimea, the aggression in Donbass, the role of Russia in the situation in Belarus, the story of the poisoning of Alexei Navaln.
“To recharge relations, as President Macron has repeatedly said, we must not forget where international law is violated, where national rights, sovereignty, territorial integrity are violated, because Russia might want to forget everything, starting with a sheet of blank and clean paper and to consolidate the illegal ”, emphasized the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
“The dialogue itself is important, because how else to get the message across, influence the situation? We see that this does not help, which means that we have to do something different, which means that our position may not be sufficiently based on principles, “he added.
ELTA recalls that on Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron said after a meeting with Lithuanian President Gitan Nauseda that France would maintain a transparent dialogue with Russia. According to him, peace in Europe also requires cooperation with neighboring Russia.
According to him, having a dialogue with Russia can make Europe feel more secure.
On the other hand, the president of France pointed out that Lithuania has a painful historical memory with Russia. Therefore, according to him, he will also understand the position of Lithuania.
