Medical drops

At Kėdainiai Hospital and the PSPC, part of the doctors are ill. More patients in the hospital, because there all services are provided by contact.

“A total of 62 employees were sick at Kėdainiai Hospital, 23 were considered healthy, 39 were still sick. 20 people are in self-isolation.

The situation of Kėdainiai PSPC is a little better, although there are also diseases. Since the beginning of November, 16 doctors have fallen ill and 6 employees have returned to work, ”reported Arūnas Kacevičius, director of the municipal administration.

Stasys Skauminas, director of the Kėdainiai Hospital, emphasized that they do not keep protective equipment for doctors, but rather they are used according to the levels established by SAM.

Doctors working with coronavirus patients use FFP3 respirators, but elsewhere doctors wear only medical masks and disposable gowns.

There is no place for the dead

It turned out that it is a common case that the relatives of the deceased are sick or in isolation. The hospital receives requests to keep the bodies for a week or even longer, but the hospital does not have the capacity to do so.

In the face of rising deaths, they are spinning as much as they can, including improper retention of remains.

“It just came to our notice then. We only have 4 places in the fridge and the resident sometimes demands that we keep the deceased for a week or 10 days. But we can’t do that, after all, it’s not our job.

There were 8 deaths last Monday. Four were kept in good condition and the other four … only on the ground. We have no right to keep a person on the ground, but we have nothing to do. Family members often say that they definitely want to cremate the body, well, what can we do? “Said the director of the hospital.

He added that if someone could help them in this situation, they would gladly accept it. Some of the bodies could be temporarily stored by funeral service companies operating in the country.

With the rapid launch of the second cremation line at Kėdainiai Crematorium, this problem is expected to be reduced at least a little.

The second shift will work

Audronė Rimkevičienė, head of the PSPC who oversees the mobile research point in Kėdainiai, said that both the number of surveys and the number of positive responses are extremely high. On Saturdays, those who wish to explore all day will be accepted every 3 minutes, all seats are taken.

“On Thursday 149 tests were carried out at the mobile point, 40 of which were positive. During all the time we were working, 43 people registered at the point did not arrive. It is not clear what the reasons are.

Importantly, full patients are registered for Saturday and Sunday.

It seems that we will start working in two shifts, because the need is very high, ”said A. Rimkevičienė.

What he promised he didn’t get

S. Skuminas emphasized that if two artificial ventilation devices were purchased in the spring at the initiative of the municipality, now the hospital would not have opportunities to rescue critically ill patients.

SAM promised a lung ventilator to the hospital in our country, but the hospital that constantly requests it does not get it in any way.

“As far as we know, that machine can arrive in a month. The covidean department has been working since November 7, the device promised by SAM is not yet available.

After contacting the carriers, they responded that there were no details, the hospital chief said, adding that this was not the ministry’s first cliché. – We received 10 vital signs monitors in the spring.

It turned out that they were not intended for the European market, it was impossible to use them, so they remained in warehouses throughout the summer. In the fall, they were picked up and taken out, without replacing the appropriate equipment, ”said S. Skuminas.
