FIBA adopted sanctions after Lietkabelis was dissatisfied with the decision of the Basketball Court of Arbitration (BAT), which ordered the Panevėžys club to reach an agreement with former defender Kendrick Brown and his representatives for the 2019 contract to end. unilaterally.
In addition, the residents of Panevėžys applied to the Swiss Federal Supreme Court for annulment of the BAT decision. However, the claim was rejected.
At the same time, as Lietkabelis did not implement BAT’s verdict regarding compensation to K. Brown, FIBA imposed sanctions on Lietkabel.

It is true that Lietkabelis can still appeal against FIBA’s ban on registering new players within two weeks.
