“Taking into account the needs of the customers and the convenience of shopping, we are beginning to install self-service checkout areas. This type of cash registers will gradually appear in Lidl stores, in the first place they will be installed in those stores where currently the possibility of quick payment is the most necessary and there is a greater flow of customers paying with a bank card. Today, the convenience and speed of customer service is increasingly important and payment by bank card is growing. By installing self-service checkouts, we want to offer our customers an even more convenient and faster purchasing process, ”said Radostin Roussev-Peine, CEO of Lidl Lietuva.
In Vilnius, Žemaitės st. The Lidl store at 16 will have a total of six self-service checkouts, which will be integrated instead of two standard checkouts. From now on, buyers will be able to take advantage of twelve payments in this store. The Lidl store in the G9 will be equipped with a self-service checkout area instead of the existing express checkouts.
To ensure that purchases at the self-service checkouts are as fast as possible, Lidl’s self-checkouts will only allow payment by bank or gift card.
Self-service checkouts are said to have a simple, easy-to-understand system that will allow shoppers to shop quickly and conveniently. A clear search engine will make it easy to search for fruits, vegetables, cakes, or nuts purchased on the system. There will also always be a consultant in the self-service checkout area who will assist in the use of self-service checkouts if necessary, approve products with restrictions and make sure that purchases at the self-checkout are smooth.
For the convenience of customers, it will be possible to purchase bags for the storage of merchandise in each self-service box, the self-service area will also have stands with quick-buy items and a stand for press publications.
