In a statement released Sunday, the group said its team of lawyers was working with music rights organization BMI to end the use of the group’s works during Trump’s presidential re-election campaign.
“The IMC, on behalf of The Rolling Stones, informed the Trump election campaign that the unauthorized use of the group’s songs was a violation of the license agreement,” the group said. “If Donald Trump ignores the requirement to stop using songs and continues to do so, then he will be sued for breach of the ban and the unlicensed use of music.”
The Rolling Stones also complained about the use of their works during Trump’s 2016 presidential election campaign in the United States, which often featured the classic 1969 song The Rolling Stones, “You Can’t Always Get What You Want.”
The piece was also played during Trump’s recent campaign campaign in Oklahoma, Tulsa.
Other musicians have also complained in the past that their tracks are being played during the Trump events. The family of the late rock musician Tom Petty also sent an order not to use his works after the song “I Won’t Back Down” was used in Talsi.
