Vaidotas Žala and Andrius Malnieks will long remember the Aukštaitija Rally competition. In the speed test section, the crew had an accident that caused significant damage to their car. However, within a few hours, the mechanics repaired the Škoda Fabia R5 so that there were no signs of an accident on the car.

After this happily ended failure, Vaidotas Damage appeared to be stuck and was no longer lost in the speed sections of the first day. He won four of the five sprint sections. He failed to win just one, the last speed section of the first day, in which Agrorodeo advanced just 0.7 seconds. he missed Martin Samson.

Such a successful performance by the Agrorodeo duo on the first day of the rally paid off: after five sections of speed, their lead over the closest pursuers Dominykas Butvilas and Renatas Vaitkevičius reached 21.3 seconds.

How lucky Martynas Samson was. He encountered technical problems with his car in the third gear section. The steering wheel of the Ford Fiesta N5 + rally car began to show its quirks, so the crew could no longer demonstrate high speed and wasted seconds.

After the first day, M.Samson is 38.5 seconds behind V.Žala. and ranks fifth. This means that the chances of Utena winning this rally and at the same time the Lithuanian rally champion title have decreased significantly.

D.Butvilas, who is less behind V.Žala, still cannot feel calm. From him in just 0.7 seconds. the third-place duo of Vladas Jurkevičius and Aisvydas Paliukėnas lag behind. At the moment, the Ukrainians Valery Gorort and Sergei Laren with the WRC Mini.

On the first day of the rally, nine crews withdrew from the fight due to breakdowns and accidents. Some of them plan to return to the speed sections on Saturday under the Rally 2 rule.

On the second day of the rally, nine more speed sections will be waiting for the Aukštaitija Rally participants, and the riders will visit the Utena district. In total, the crews will have to cover almost 130 kilometers during the two days of the rally.
