Kaunas “Žalgiris” forward Joffrey Lauvergne did not go to Russia by mistake.

24sek.lt journalist Donatas Urbonas announces that after the announcement, when Lauvergne was diagnosed with coronavirus, the Frenchman performed an additional COVID-19 nasopharyngeal test, which yielded a negative result. This information was also confirmed by sources at BasketNews.lt.

Tomorrow, the Frenchman will have another routine test for nasopharyngeal coronavirus, since all basketball players must present two negative tests in a row to be able to return to training and games with the team.

In an official press release on Thursday evening, “Žalgiris” spread the news that Lauvergne had been diagnosed with coronavirus just before the match with Chimki. As a result, he was isolated from the team and remained in Kaunas. All other tests for the Žalgiris coronavirus were negative.

The Chimki club also informed the team about new cases of coronavirus on Friday morning. For this reason, the match between Žalgiris and Chimki, which was to take place on Friday night, was postponed to Saturday. The duel will start at 8 pm Lithuanian time.

Chimki’s team is currently infected with the coronavirus by Greg Monroe, Janis Timma, Jordan Mickey, Yevgeny Voronov and Maxim Barashkov, and Errick McCollum is still in quarantine. Stefan Jovičius and Aleksejus Švedas have been dropped from the lineup due to injuries.
