The transport of passengers through airports, ports, buses from the United Kingdom, Ireland and Portugal is also temporarily prohibited, as well as to those countries where, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the new COVID-19 strains are more frequent.
With the permission of the Ministry of Transport and Communications, a maximum of five passengers can be transported on private planes and commercial flights, occasional passenger traffic, special arrangements to bring employees to workplaces or bring athletes to participate in competitions.
People wishing to come to Latvia must declare the reasons for their arrival through the covidpass.lv website. When completing the electronic questionnaire, they may be required to provide electronic copies of travel documents or other documents, but visitors will also need to have these documents when crossing the border.
Zanda Kalninia-Lukaševica, parliamentary secretary of the Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told public radio that repatriation trips will no longer be organized this time.
He added that people with the COVID-19 coronavirus infection can return to Latvia by land, but only by private transport.
The official added that these two-week restrictions can be extended, but will depend on the epidemiological situation.
