After assessing all the circumstances, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs considers it possible that the funds in the Belarusian bank account in this particular case will be used to cover the remaining responsibilities of the sanatorium staff in 2020 (salary, etc.), as well as for subsidize the salary of employees during downtime. Payments can also be made for the remaining obligations of the State of Lithuania in 2020 (social security contributions, etc.)

“We would like to point out that the funds can be used exclusively for the needs of employees. However, before the end of the crackdown in Belarus, we will also seek long-term solutions for employees working in sanctioned Belarusian companies located in Lithuania.” Chancellor Gabrielius Landsbergis said.

In December, Swedbank froze the accounts of the Belarusian sanatorium after the European Union imposed restrictive measures on Belarus.
