Landsbergis evaluated the leaked material on himself: I think we are behaving a bit badly

Asked this Tuesday by Seimas journalists how they value the published material and if they seek to fulfill his grandfather Vytautas Landsbergis’s dream of becoming the country’s leader, G. Landsbergis assured that he did not comment on unofficial information.

“It seems to me that we are behaving a little badly. This is unofficial information. It was never confirmed. And the unofficial information, as well as the rumors that we, at least the people who respect us, do not usually comment on, ”said Chancellor G. Landsbergis at the Seimas with a smile.

Delphi recalls that the leaked document also analyzes the biography of G. Landsbergis, grandson of Vytautas Landsbergis, who studied history and political science, worked in the Office of the President, worked in the European Parliament (EP) since 2014 and replaced V. Landsbergis in the delegation of Lithuania.

“The grandfather supports his grandson’s political career, he has become the youngest foreign minister in the history of Independent Lithuania,” the leaked document read.

The fact that G. Landsbergis is one of the richest ministers is also mentioned: his wife’s wealth reaches 14.5 million. euros.

The document states that the leader of the TS-LKD, G. Landsbergis, leans towards liberalism, personal freedom is important to him, that he is attractive to young people. However, this moves away from the conservative line towards the center and the liberals, but economic liberalism is not that important to him – “but not all the values ​​declared by the Liberal Party are acceptable to him.”

Do not forget to evaluate the position of V. Landsbergis. According to the authors of the document, V. Landsbergis supports the party’s turn towards the liberal center.

“He drew conclusions when, four years ago, voters chose the Lithuanian Green and Peasants Union (LVŽS) because voters feared a further escalation of the conflict with Russia,” the document says.

The leaked document claims that Foreign Minister G. Landsbergis is cooperating closely with the country’s head, Gitanas Nausėda.

“However, the president is not that active in foreign policy, so Landsberg has the opportunity to do it on his own, it will give him more popularity,” the document says.

It is assumed that during the next presidential elections in 2024, “the young politician G. Landsbergis will be able to participate in the presidential elections, according to his age.”

“If the grandson won the presidential elections, the ambitions of V. Landsbergis, who did not succeed, would come true,” he said.

It should be noted that there is also clear competition: G. Landsbergis criticized G. Nausėda for his decision not to appoint L. Linkevičius and Raimundas Karoblis as ambassadors for the need to “calm down”.

“The growing gap will have a negative impact on a unified foreign policy,” the document said.

The analysis prepared by the analysts of the Polish state think tank also analyzes the work of G. Landsbergis as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

“GRAMO. Landsberg is recognized as a person who makes an easy contact, speaks English and French fluently. He hopes that the commitment with the European People’s Party (EPP) will help him to establish contacts. Conservatives do not change foreign policy, they get involved in an active diplomacy, unlike the twin diplomacy of Linas Linkevičius ”, the document states.
