Kaunas residents living in a picturesque corner of nature were alarmed to see that the trees marked on a plot of Lampėdžiai would be cut down and Salynų str. Construction will begin on plot 18.
Noted
Salyno str., Located in Lampėdžiai. Plot 18 is currently full of trees and abundant vegetation, but marks have appeared on the trunks. People around are worried that green spaces will disappear soon.
“And in the past they tried to cut down a large area of pine trees. However, even the bushes cannot be cut here, because Lampėdžiai is a protected area, the protection of birds and other creatures works here.
The trees are already marked, you could try cutting everything again. A smart plan to build about ten or even more houses here, because the whole district is already close by. This is how you just want to cut down a large area of trees “, -” Kauno diena “readers were angry.
no permits
The locals have also added several photos showing that the tree trunks are marked with paint. It is true that the brand is unusual.

The lines are painted on the trunks of the trees. Vegetation is usually marked differently: with a dot if the tree will be pruned, or with a cross if the tree is planned to be cut down completely. That is why it is not ruled out that someone so marked Salyno str. The trees in plot 18 wanted to fool people.
It is important to mention that it is also a forest plot where no deforestation procedure has been carried out.
The Kaunas City Municipality also indicated to Kauno Diena that it had not issued any permits for logging work on the plot.
Not protected from construction
However, Jurga Pakrosnienė, Chief Specialist of the Environmental Protection Division of the Kaunas City Municipal Administration, noted that the above-mentioned Lampėdžiai parcel is private and could be built on it. However, due to the specific characteristics of the area, all works must be strictly coordinated with the municipality.
“The aforementioned plot is private, where according to the general plan the construction of one- and two-bedroom homes is allowed. It is important to mention that it is also a forest parcel where no deforestation procedure has been carried out. For these reasons, all actions in this area must be coordinated ”, said the specialist.
According to J. Pakrosnienė, the municipality of Kaunas has not received any information about the intentions of the owners, and for the last few years (since 2018) no projects have been submitted to coordinate projects in Salyno str. 18 plot. Therefore, it is currently unclear what the owners plan to do on the plot and when the plot could be adapted to personal needs.
