The iGo2Dakar team, which had just finished, was received by the iGo2Dakar team and asked how the athlete felt after winning his first Dakar Rally, which, as you know, the man had quietly dreamed for many years: “everything is fine, super . The mood is good. ”The man said he still needed to let his emotions cool down and thanked everyone for their support.
He said it was the support that was probably the biggest push for him to drive and get through the most difficult moments of the rally. Laisvydas thanked not only the Dakar fans in Lithuania, but also local journalists and representatives of other teams, who did not skimp on advice and help: the Lithuanian gathered a large circle of supporters with his sincere smile and real emotions.
A difficult but stable performance
Although the man was a bit lost in the last stretch of speed, he said it only took a few minutes, so it didn’t affect the final result. Laisvydas said he had to talk to other colleagues from the motorcycle and quad classes who are in the Dakar for the first time, and they all agreed that the last rally was particularly difficult compared to the last three years.
Technique also responded to this, with which the athlete did not hide, he had several minor problems in the second part of the Dakar Rally. In agreement with the team’s mechanics, L. Kancius had to choose the economy-conserving tactic and drive the last stages of the Dakar at speed with extreme caution.
Despite the difficult conditions and the first punctured tires during the first 11 kilometers of the prologue, Laisvyd managed to maintain a constant pace and find the perfect balance between speed and safe driving throughout the Dakar Rally. The Klaipėda resident did not hide that there was a lot of excitement before the first exits, and after a few days, when Laisvydas’s eyes cleared for everyone, it became clear that the speed section required all available forces.
The extremely rocky tracks required not only a lot of flat tires, but also very sore hands. Halfway through the Dakar, L. Kancius, a former weightlifter who is extremely well prepared, said that his hands suffer greatly from driving through bumps and that the pains become difficult to lift at the end of the day, but taking advantage of every minute possible rest, the athlete for the day.
The day after the finish line, Laisvydas together with all the participants and his team members will return to Vilnius on a direct flight from Lithuania. The athlete does not hide the fact that he missed the families and thanked them for their support. It is true that the athlete’s quad will travel to the Czech Republic, to the Story Racing workshop, where the quad was prepared for the Dakar challenge, and will now undergo standard repairs, which expire after covering more than 4,500 sporting kilometers.
