A few weeks ago, an athlete fell in the stud farm in Rieš together with a horse and was injured: a representative of a modern pentathlon had a rib.

“There were a lot of horses on the wrist, they gave him a normal horse, he just didn’t calculate the distance between the two obstacles, he danced with the so-called ‘scissors’, he tripped and fell with Laura.” 15min.lt Vyacheslav Kalinin, the Lithuanian modern pentathlon coach and one of the leaders of the federation, told journalist Kęstas Rimkas. – Broke his ribs. It happens to pentathletes, it has happened to me, it is nothing terrible. It was good that he didn’t hit, but the blow was strong, through the ribs.

After the incident, the 37-year-old athlete was taken to doctors, who found broken ribs after testing.

It is for this reason that L. Asadauskaitė-Zadneprovskienė missed the fights of the Modern Pentathlon European Championship that took place last weekend.

However, even the painful trauma she suffered did not stop the Olympic champion – she continues to train.

However, the athlete, who was injured by a horse after a fall, is still carefully protecting the broken rib and is not yet training with full strength.

“We have decided that it is not worth it for her to go to the European Championship, where she would also have to run, and another injury could have much more painful consequences. Do not take a chance against the Tokyo Games, after all, she is our leader.

Now he’s fencing, running, but swimming still hurts, “V. Kalinin told K. Rimkus.

The Tokyo Olympics will be held from July 23 to August 8.

Lithuania will be represented by 37 athletes at the Olympics.
