On Wednesday afternoon, two green curtains from the community came to the courtyard of the I.Simonaitytė library: last year a Christmas tree decorated with buttons, decorated with buttons, and this Christmas spirit from Klaipėda, which was never seen by no one, it was kept secret.

According to community representative Regina Baguckienė, this fir tree is completely different from previous years. The idea was born during the quarantine, and probably most of the merits of the residents of this district go to community member Sandra Ščavinskienė, who has spent many hours making this green Klaipėda scarf shine with all its beauty.

This year our Christmas tree will be completely different from previous years, it will be a “Klaipeda” Christmas tree. We are all forced to stay at home, close by, and we cannot go out to the city, socialize, visit public places. We decided that it would be great if it were a surprise or gift for Klaipeda residents, like Klaipeda being mentioned on a Christmas tree.

Our Christmas tree consists of five floors, each floor containing fragments of the city of Klaipeda. The largest ground floor is dedicated to our Paupiai residential area, the houses located here are also one of the elements of the exclusive Bachmanas stately building complex. The fragments of the city of Klaipėda located on other floors are the arch, the Biržai bridge, the Danė river and the Meridianas. It is very difficult to distinguish this beauty, all residents of Klaipėda should see it for sure, ”said R. Baguckienė.

According to her, the fir frame was welded by the men of the community, and the branches were formed from natural materials: moss, tree branches, fir branches, tow. Even the remains of coffee grounds, the coffee beans used to form the piles and the stones imitated with them were used.

“We try not to be afraid of the rain or the wind, but you are never sure how it could happen. The houses are made of a certain material that is not afraid of rain. The roofs of the house are made of paper, but it is wrapped with duct tape, so it should not get wet. Lights and bulbs will be lit in every house. The Christmas tree is decorated with garlands, ”said a community representative.

Lights and bulbs will be turned on in every house.

According to R. Baguckienė, the idea began to float in the community in the spring, when it was questioned whether it would be possible to meet people during winter break. About 15 community members, both individuals and families, began to produce the fragments, houses, roads and other visible parts of the fir carcass.

“And the men were active, they joined. One made small benches, bus stops. All this must be seen because there are small fragments. We ask the residents for small toys, they are housed in our Christmas tree: ducks walk and puppies, kittens and cars travel. Lifetime: Klaipeda at the Christmas tree.

And our fir is over eight feet tall this year, huge. Its diameter is about 1.6 meters, such is the bottom. There is no way to hug, only to admire ”, the woman smiles.

Fragments reflecting the city born in separate houses were brought to the community house and placed on a fir tree. This work went to S. Ščavinskienė, who, according to R. Baguckienė, did not skimp on diligent work of days or nights.

Sandra herself, an interior designer by specialty, talks about working day by day for more than a month. The base had to be glued with adhesive and hot glue. To form a natural looking layer, it is formed from moss, tea, coffee grounds, reflective patches of soil.

“And it is no longer a pity that the hands fit together and like them,” smiled S. Ščavinskienė, showing his hands tired from work.

“The big job was for one or two people to put it all together. Sandra merged into one whole, into a large Christmas tree. It took time and it wasn’t like we did for a few hours. Especially Sandra, who worked not only for hours but also for days and nights. It’s a big job to put it all together, glue it together so it’s sustainable and beautiful to look at, and it won’t spill or get wet when the wind blows. He had to shape the hills, the tracks, and everything else into one whole. Unfortunately, due to the quarantine we were unable to work together with the community, ”said the woman.

Last year, I. Simonaitytė’s courtyard was decorated with a unique community fir tree, which was decorated with hundreds of buttons, and in 2018, the skilled residents of this district built a fir tree out of crochet pieces.
