Klaipeda resident who illegally distributed half a million in loans will go to court

According to the service, it is estimated that in five years Klaipėda residents received almost 78 thousand. and declared only a small part of them. The loan amounts ranged from a few hundred to several tens of thousands of euros.

In total, the man collected almost 140 promissory notes from debtors, entered into several notarial contracts, some of which were also concluded as mortgages on real estate or personal property.

During the pre-trial investigation, it was established that the port city resident attracted clients in cooperation with real estate agencies.

For those who wanted to borrow money, the defendants ordered the issuance of simple uncontested bills of exchange, and notarized loan contracts were signed with clients who wanted to obtain larger loans, recording in the documents almost twice what the residents they really wanted to borrow.

According to the FNTT, interest rates were often 10 percent. of the amount borrowed, and the people who could not pay it were turned over to the bailiffs, who recovered the larger amounts specified in the loan contracts.
