Klaipeda Mindaugas County Džermeika, head of LSC’s Traffic Police Service, says that if only the weather is better, the cars by the sea will be like summer, and visitors will not shy away from walking to another municipality.

“If the situation becomes unmanageable, the number of people is crazy and driving en masse, traffic jams form, then the situation will be handled differently. In this case, we go to the municipality and ask for restrictions,” says M. Džermeika on the possible stage.

The head of the Klaipeda LSC Highway Police Service does not hide that he supports the desire of the people to be outdoors, but remembers that the coastal area of the port city does not end only in Melnrage. And due to the increasing traffic jams and the people who gather there, those who ignore the quarantine probably have to be the most punished.

“Administrative fines are imposed on those who break the rules. Other forms of control: make sure that people have the opportunity to move. Of course, people have the opportunity to move in their municipality, but they have to follow the rules; for example , don’t go to Palanga on the beach, wear masks, don’t get together ”, explains M. Džermeika.

Police officers have established a post near Karklė. It is this place that clearly shows what kind of traffic jams occur when everyone drives down Lideikio Street, which runs from Klaipėda to Melnragė. Unfortunately, there is no other street to cross, so here, according to the official, you can clearly see what the movement of people is like.

Ms. Jermeika says that people should evaluate what kind of car traffic is parking and if you see that the parking lot is almost full of people, don’t be lazy to move a little more. There really are a lot of newly installed parking lots right now, so if you choose wisely, there will be enough space for everyone.

It is also not cheap to go on foot to another municipality on foot, so the official also reminds the officers who patrol the seashore.

“The police will activate the patrol on the weekend. Of course, people also meet in supermarkets. We objectively assess a situation where there is a higher probability of contracting the virus. But even for a walk you have to follow the rules ”Recalls M. Džermeika.

As a result of this weekend’s requests to the municipality to surround the most popular attractions, as was done during the first quarantine. However, if people travel very actively to the sea, such a request will be submitted to Klaipeda officials.
