The leader’s sister’s speech was already Pyongyang’s second angry statement on Saturday. North Korea previously warned South Korea to stop talking nonsense about the denuclearization process and to try to “interfere” in the talks between Pyongyang and Washington.
Relations between the two countries on the Korean peninsula stalled last February after the collapse of the second summit between the United States and North Korea in Hanoi. The meeting was adjourned without agreement on what Pyongyang could reject in exchange for easing sanctions.
Pyongyang was severely criticized by the United States on Friday. The statement was released exactly two years after the landmark summit in Singapore, during which U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un shook hands.
