In his first comments on the transfer of power from Donald Trump to Joe Biden, Kim Jong Un said that he did not believe that the new US administration would change Washington’s policy towards North Korea, reported the state news agency KCNA, which was dependent on the South Korean agency Yonhap.
Mr. Biden is due to be sworn in on January 20.
Kim Jong Un said that the key to future relations between the parties was an end to the “hostile” position of the White House.
Speaking in Pyongyang, the North Korean leader called for, among other things, “the relentless pursuit of nuclear energy for the safety of our people.”
The KCNA also reported that North Korea has completed a research project on a new nuclear submarine.
